Under the CCPA, GDPR, and other European data protection laws, individuals in California, the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland have the right to object to the processing of their business data. That’s why, in all emails sent from me, you’ll find an opt-out link included.

However, opting out from a single business only prevents future contact from that specific company. To stop outreach from other businesses, you need to address the source of the data. Below, I’ve listed some of the largest data processing sites on the web, where you can opt out directly.

Why not just ask to have your data deleted?

Of course, that’s an option too, and I always honour such requests. However, there’s an irony in deleting your data: if I remove it, your details may be picked up again by another provider. Since I won’t have a record of your opt-out, you could end up being contacted again, which is the opposite of what we’re both trying to achieve and so opting out is actually the most effective way to stop being contacted. 

While going through the list below may take 10-15 minutes, it is the most effective way to ensure you’re removed from the radar of cold-email outreach from most legitimate marketers.
