Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) Service Terms
Last updated: January 2026
These terms apply specifically to Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) services provided via JamesWarrack.com. They should be read alongside the main Terms of Service.
What this service covers
I’ll guide and support you through the process required to:
-
Prepare your domain and brand for a Verified Mark Certificate
-
Confirm your logo meets VMC formatting requirements
-
Ensure SPF, DKIM and DMARC are correctly configured and strong enough for VMC requirements
-
Collect and submit all information required for the VMC application
-
Liaise with the certificate authority (CA) on your behalf where appropriate
-
Advise you on any required corrections or follow-ups
The VMC itself is issued and governed by a third-party certificate authority. I do not issue certificates and I do not control the CA’s validation rules.
What you’ll need to provide
You may be asked to supply:
-
Your logo assets in the required format (SVG tiny P/S compliant)
-
Evidence of trademark ownership where required for VMC validation
-
Proof of domain ownership or control
-
Any brand documentation reasonably required by the CA
-
Access to DNS records where necessary to set authentication records
I’ll review submissions wherever possible before formal submission to the CA, but final acceptance and issuance decisions are always made by the CA.
Third-party dependencies
This service depends on external providers, including:
-
Certificate authorities issuing the VMC
-
DNS hosting providers
-
Email platforms that inspect VMC status
-
Trademark registries (where applicable)
I cannot control changes made by these providers or by your internal teams, suppliers or systems. If issues arise due to external changes, I’ll help you understand what needs fixing, but resolution timelines and costs may vary.
Validation, suspension and revocation
Verified Mark Certificates may be suspended, revoked or otherwise rendered invalid if:
-
Your SPF, DKIM or DMARC records fall below the required policy level
-
Your trademark record changes or lapses (if required for your VMC)
-
Your logo no longer meets industry or CA formatting requirements
-
Domain ownership or control changes
-
A CA changes its validation policies
If issues arise, I’ll help you diagnose and resolve them where possible. In some cases, additional work or costs may be necessary for re-issuance.
Fees, billing and renewal
-
VMC services are priced and invoiced in advance
-
The service is typically billed on an annual basis aligning with the certificate lifecycle
-
Renewal notices will be sent in good time before expiry
-
Once external fees have been paid or applications submitted, refunds may no longer be possible
Detailed billing and refund terms are confirmed at the point of sale or in your proposal.
What I can’t guarantee
I cannot guarantee:
-
VMC approval on the first application attempt
-
How third parties (certificate authorities, inbox providers, platforms) handle or display the certificate
-
That VMC requirements won’t change after issuance
What I can guarantee is clear guidance, transparent communication and proactive support throughout the process.
Liability
I carry out this service with reasonable care and skill, in line with good industry practice.
That said:
-
I’m not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost revenue or reputation
-
I cannot guarantee specific outcomes or third-party decisions
-
I’m not responsible for issues caused by third-party platforms, certificate authorities, trademark registries or DNS providers
My total liability in relation to VMC services is limited to the fees paid for this service.
Compliance and your responsibilities
You agree that:
-
All materials and information you provide are accurate
-
You have the necessary rights to apply for the VMC on behalf of your brand
-
You will respond promptly to requests for information or approvals
You remain responsible for any legal, regulatory or trademark obligations in your jurisdiction.
